Medea The Musical by Hayley Canham

Our production of Medea the Musical was an immense success. All of the last performances were sold out and we had standing ovations after every show.

Renowned Swiss Singer, Director, and Producer, Simon Burkhalter, saw the show in the second week and had this to say about it:

“What Captivate has brought to the stage in collaboration with the Kunst- und Kulturhaus VISAVIS is simply magnificent. The gutsy play performed by four virtuoso actors and a band in a creatively staged production with a strong focus on the characters, left nothing to be desired.

The quality of the performance can easily compete with renowned productions in London’s West End. I left the performance moved on all levels and hope that such outstanding productions with excellent performers will continue in the future to be staged in Bern’s most beautiful underground theater.”

Band

Gabriel Vergelin Soler

music director, cello, piano

Gabriel was born in Argentina and started playing cello when he was 8 years old; at that time, he had to travel 2 and half hours one way to get to his lessons. His discipline and persistence payed off and by the time he was 16 all doors were open and the path to being a professional cellist was clear. He is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Jazz and Contemporary music at the ‘Hochschule der Kunste’ in Bern and is touring with international artists like Dida Guigan and Chloe Levaillant.

Ignacio Sallabera Moszczynski

percussion, piano

Ignacio was born into a land, a city (Sevilla) and a family with deep roots in Flamenco culture and his development as an artist, multi-instrument performer and music producer is a profound expression of Flamenco philosophy. The Flamenco artist has no boundaries because the art itself has no boundaries. Ignacio did not follow the safe paths of degrees and diplomas but started playing the drums at the age of six and – always choosing the specific teachers he wanted to learn from – went on to study how to perform in multiple genres: rock, metal, pop, jazz and flamenco, progressed to composition, singing and jazz piano, and is currently focused on his first album as a singer, composer and producer of urban pop music.

Luca Imholz

guitar

Luca knew he was going to be a musician when he was 14 years old. The experience of performing for the first time in a school band and personal mentoring from his music teacher at the time were key to this decision. Ever since, making music together with others has been a cornerstone of the way he leads his life. He is currently completing his BA in jazz guitar at the Hochschule der Künste Bern and will go on to do an MA in music pedagogy. He is the music director and guitarist for the dance band, Funky Dudes, and also guitarist for the Swiss Indie Rock Band, Mollusca.
